Laser beam stabilization is based on a fast piezoelectric element and a position-determining four-quadrant diode (4-QD) mounted behind a highly reflective mirror. Deviations in the laser position are detected and transferred into a control signal. A corresponding piezoelectric control transmits the signal to the tilting system. Several systems could also be combined in order to provide laser beams for various applications within a very short period of time. Laser beam stabilization is characterized by high precision, precise reproducibility, and fast control of the beam position. In addition, it compensates for interfering influences such as laser pointing, thermal beam fluctuations, impacts, and building vibration.
